Hi, I’m Pete, and Money With A Blog is my website where I write about all things related to running and operating a blog. I believe that anyone can make a nice second income from a blog, they just need to be pointed down the right path, and shown some best practices about what works, and what doesn’t. I had a lot of help when I first started, and with this site I hope to help some others find their way.
How I Started Blogging
I’ve been blogging off and on for years, first starting a personal blog on blogger.com about 10-11 years ago during the 2000 election. At the time I was writing about family issues, about politics (do you remember a controversial election back then?), and about anything else that came to mind. While that original blog is still around in some fashion, it hasn’t been updated in quite a while, mainly because I didn’t have the passion for the subject matter.
In 2008 my wife and I were taking a class lead by personal finance guru Dave Ramsey. We were learning how to improve our finances, start a budget and get back on track financially. Throughout the process I decided to write down some of the things we were learning on my own personal finance blog. I quickly found that others were searching for information on personal finance topics, and my site started coming up in the search engines quite regularly. I also quickly realized that I could make money blogging via advice I received from other bloggers.
My site has grown over the past 3 years, to the point where the income has now replaced my wife’s day job income, and she is able to stay at home with our son. This year I expect the income from my site to equal or eclipse the income from my day job. To me that ‘s no small feat, and I feel so blessed to have come so far.
The Blog
Money With A Blog was launched in December of 2010 as a place for me to talk about my blogging experience. I want to share how I was able to create a nice second income from my sites, and hopefully give some others the extra helpful nudge they need in order to create their own successful sites. I also want it to be a place where we can share a helpful dialogue, and where ideas flow freely, so please feel free to comment on all of our posts – we love hearing your feedback!
